Land Management

The aim of all of our research is to provide practical methods for achieving ecological targets. This has been achieved in a range of situations, eg:

  • Developing the Bracken control guidelines for England and Wales

  • Provision of advice to English Nature, Scottish Natural Heritage, Environment Agency and Rhone Poulenc on spray drift, especially when derived from aerial spraying.

  • Development of techniques for controlling Molinia caerulea.

  • Provision of advice to DEFRA on the consequences of the bracken habitat and its control.

  • Provision of advice on the impact of climate change on the distribution and amount of bracken in the UK.

  • Advice to RSPB on techniques for habitat restoration on abandoned arable farmland.
